BCH merchant onboarding checklist
- 1. Decide how to receive BCH. Choose a self-custodial wallet controlled by the business and define which staff may operate the till.
- 2. Back up securely. Store the wallet recovery phrase offline. Never give it to staff members who only need to request or verify payments.
- 3. Configure the sale. Set AUD pricing, test the QR code and understand whether the chosen app locks the exchange rate.
- 4. Make a small real-world test. Scan, pay, confirm the merchant receives BCH and record the transaction against the receipt.
- 5. Train the team. Agree on confirmation policy, refunds, end-of-day reconciliation and what to do if internet or a device fails.
- 6. Keep accurate records. Record the sale value in AUD, BCH quantity, GST if applicable, exchange rate, date, and relevant payment reference.
- 7. Publish and revisit. Keep map listings accurate, replace faded signage and schedule a periodic staff refresh or test transaction.
Integration vs a separate tablet: which works for you?
For a small business, an independent QR-based POS may be the quickest test. Before promising integration, identify the merchant’s existing POS brand and version and ask whether it supports third-party payment APIs, custom payment methods and verified callbacks.
