FAQ

Bitcoin Cash. Real questions. Clear answers.

G’day, I’m Bitcoin Jason. My focus is helping people understand Bitcoin Cash and use it in everyday life. Start here, then follow the links when you want to dig deeper.

Getting started

What is Bitcoin Cash?

Bitcoin Cash, or BCH, is digital money for direct payments between people. It uses a public blockchain rather than a bank’s ledger. You can use it to pay a participating business or send money to another person.

Is BCH the same as BTC?

No. They share history before the August 2017 split, but now operate as separate networks. BCH prioritises payments and scaling on the blockchain. Always check the coin and network before sending.

Why do I promote Bitcoin Cash?

I want to help build an economy where people can trade directly and have more control over their money. For me, merchant adoption and everyday use are central to that vision. That’s my reason for supporting BCH.

How do I start using it?

Choose a BCH wallet, follow its backup instructions, and practise receiving and sending a small amount first. Explore wallets at BitcoinCash.org and check each provider’s own website before downloading.

What is a recovery phrase?

It is a backup used by many wallets to restore access. Keep it private and securely stored. Follow your wallet’s instructions; backup formats can differ. Anyone who obtains the information needed to restore your wallet may be able to spend its funds. Electron Cash explains its seed-based backup.

For merchants

Why accept Bitcoin Cash?

BCH offers low network fees and direct payments from customers. You can receive it through a compatible wallet or payment service. Processor, exchange and conversion fees are separate from network fees.

Can I keep my prices in Australian dollars?

Yes. A compatible checkout can calculate the BCH amount from your AUD price using an exchange-rate quote. Check which rate it uses, how long the quote lasts, and how refunds work. Read more about pricing.

What if the BCH price changes?

The AUD value of BCH you hold can rise or fall. Taking payment at a quoted rate does not remove that exposure afterwards. Consider how you will manage stock purchases, cash flow and any conversion arrangements before choosing how much BCH to retain.

Do I need to wait ten minutes at the counter?

A wallet can detect a broadcast payment within seconds, before it enters a block. This is called zero-confirmation payment. It carries double-spend risk. Merchants should set an acceptance policy for their payment size and situation; higher-value payments may warrant confirmations. Exchanges often require them. Understand zero-confirmation payments.

Common questions

Is Bitcoin Cash anonymous?

Not automatically. Transactions are public, and addresses can become linked to people. Privacy depends on how you use your wallet and services. Publishing an address can reveal financial activity associated with it. Read the privacy explanation.

Can a payment be reversed?

BCH has no card-style chargeback service. Check the recipient, network and amount before sending. A refund normally requires the recipient to send a new payment back; do not assume an accidental payment can be recovered.

Where can I learn about scaling, fees and decentralisation?

The Bitcoin Cash Podcast has detailed discussions of these topics and common objections. Use its FAQ collection as a deeper reading resource. Its advocacy and predictions should be distinguished from verifiable protocol behaviour.

Bitcoin Cash City & Bitcoin Jason

What does Bitcoin Cash City mean here?

On this site, it describes the Townsville adoption story I’m involved in: connecting people and businesses through practical BCH use. I’ll share merchant visits, community updates and lessons from the journey. It does not mean every business in Townsville accepts BCH.

How can I get involved?

Follow Bitcoin Jason on YouTube, ask a local business whether it accepts BCH, or share a real experience of using it. Merchants interested in being featured can connect through my public Bitcoin Jason channels. Always check directly with a business before travelling or ordering.

Are there any events coming up?

Confirmed meetups and dates will be listed on the Events page. Check there for announcements.

Can I buy something here?

The Shop page is a preview of what I hope to build. There are no products or checkout available yet.
